The Sun Painting
Overview
While most designers focus on addressing the pressing challenges faced by products and services, we focus on exploring the will of the product itself. The core approach of the Sun Painting project is to visualize the sun’s intellect. This effort to represent the sun’s thoughts might seem to align with our own design thinking, but we intentionally minimize direct interaction by creating a sun-centered system based on data collection and analysis. Thus, the system functions as an interpreter of the sun’s intentions. This project is ongoing, and our team will continue to develop and refine this sun-centered system in the future.

Brainstorming
The first stage of our creative process was to generate ideas for devices that could transmit messages from the sun.

Concept Development
After identifying two main directions, our team refined the system and began shaping the design of the two devices.

Final Draft
The final sketches were completed after multiple iterations and rounds of testing.

Modeling & Testing
Research & Wireframes
As we move into the creation phase, our team is divided into pairs, each conducting research. We use flexible wooden sticks for their adaptability, while also collecting data on how the sun and other environmental factors affect our project over time.

Testing Models
In the second round of creation, we start using more durable materials. As our team works with Arduinos, we transition into testing the models to refine our interactive pieces.

Finalization
After multiple rounds of testing and refining, our group completes the project, bringing the interactive art to life.
